What is astrology, really?

Astrology is the interplay between earth and the other planets. If we insist on the components themselves (the planets) they each represent parts of our lives (basic identity, emotions, communication etc.). Their positions can give us insights on aspects of our lives. For example their location at the moment of your birth can reveal a short preview of how your life will be.

The 12 zodiac signs, along with other important characteristics like: the positions of the planets, the Houses and other aspects contribute to forming your birth chart. Each planet’s orbit ties into every zodiac sign.

If we refer to the years in astrology, they are believed to come from the cycle that the sun rotates around the earth because the sun needs one year to go in every zodiac sign. The same process is with moon that needs a month.

It is believed that our entire concept of time came from the solar and lunar cycles that the zodiac formed around.

The zodiac chart is a document where you will find all the data about the time of your birth: zodiac signs, houses, the degrees of the planets’ axes’ etc. It’s important to know your exact date, hour and place of birth so you can have an exact birth chart.

The birth chart layout includes two circles, which are divided into twelve parts. These two circles are ”the zodiac wheel" and ”the 12 houses" which represent aspects of your life.

First of all, the 12 parts in the zodiac wheel are the 12 zodiac signs. It contains an inner circle which represents the earth, or more precisely, the location of your birth.

Second of all, the other circle is based on the path that the sun takes around the earth. The time of your birth shows exactly in which position the planets were when you were born, but remember that the zodiac sign divisions don’t line up with the house divisions. The most important houses are: the 1st - ascendent (rising sign), the 4th -imum coeli, the seventh-descendent, the 10th - medium coeli (midheaven) =angular houses.
